Gerry Marsden

Gerard “Gerry” Marsden was born on 24 September 1942 in Liverpool. Gerry is a British Musician and a TV personality. He is best known as leader of the band Gerry and the Pacemakers

Gerry’s interest in music began at an early age. He remembers standing on top of an air raid shelter singing ‘Ragtime Cowboy Joe’ and getting a great reception from onlookers. He said to himself then, “This is what I want to do.”

Over the years Gerry has donated generously to various Charities which deservedly earned him an MBE in 2003 and more recently the freedom to the city of Liverpool.  This is not the first honour from the city for Gerry as he was given the Freedom of the Ferries in 1985.

Gerry Marsden passed away in Arrow Park Hospital on the Wirral, January 3, 2021.
